The snow has melted so it doesn’t look as much like December but the gloomy day doesn’t have any colorful foliage left to see as they have long fallen off leaving bare trees instead.

The Wisconsin River doesn’t look very impressive where it starts it winding flow coming out of Lac Vieux Desert, a lake near the border of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan but it changes in size by the time it travels 430 miles across Wisconsin and flows into the Mississippi River near Prairie du Chien.

According to what traditionally is known as “The First Thanksgiving,” the 1621 feast between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag at Plymouth Colony contained waterfowl, wild turkey, venison, fish, lobster, clams, berries, fruit, pumpkin, and squash. Many of the foods at the first feast have become staples of the modern day Thanksgiving dinner.
