I think the pussy willows were tricked into thinking spring had arrived, but now the soft silky silvery catkins are freezing their toes in the below zero wind chills.
Cold Pussy Willows
You never know when an extra critter might show up in the house, like my tree frog hitching a ride inside from the flower pot, but today the extra critter was found on the porch at the farm. And on this cold March day, the calf was enjoying the warm sunshine through the window inside as he waited for a helping hand from my mom with a bottle of milk. Sometimes the extra ‘guest’ may be in the bathroom, the tub or sink, getting thawed out on cold winter day.

I took a walk around outside, in an attempt to look for any mail which might have blown out of my mailbox from the windy days since it was blowing the door open, but there wasn’t too much activity happening in the field. With the pond still covered with ice, there are no wood ducks hanging around the pond, even though most of the snow is gone, at least temporarily.
No Ducks Yet
I think there needs to be some crossing gates, like for a railroad, on the side road for a critter crossing. Instead of a deer crossing the road coming home from church this evening, there were close to three dozen turkeys strung across the road in the same spot and it took a while for them all to get across.
