A calf in the May sunny pasture doesn’t know that she or he could be watching a lot of people wandering pass in July if it was selected to go to the fair. And I don’t know who would be more curious about the other.
Calf in May Pasture
At fairs and livestock shows around the state this week, the warm temperatures meant short sleeves and shorts type of weather and definitely not coat temperatures. So the wool breeds of sheep were wearing their “wool coats” in the hot weather compared to the meat breeds which have been sheared short.
Sheep Wearing Winter Coats
Since I have a lot of birdhouses out, it seems like I either scare a bluebird off her nest or I get chewed out by a tiny wren with a big voice if I walk too close to one. The adult wrens were busy taking insects into the birdhouse to feed the noisy little baby wrens. But after taking the picture, I came back into the house with a little green inchworm on my hand so they haven’t got all the bugs yet.
Wren Busy Feeding
Watch as the house wren brings a variety of insects to feed its young and since the wrens build up their nest to be level with the opening, once in a while you can see the little heads poking up trying to get fed.
