The clouds today prevented much of a colorful sunset unlike some winter sunsets which display a very pink sky when night approaches.
Pink at Sunset
This morning a number of birds were hanging on the icicles on my roof line catching the dripping water off the ends. I suppose that even those the icicles were slippery, it would have been easier getting water that way than trying eat snow coated with an ice layer. These icicles are a lot larger than the ones hanging outside my windows.

I saw a little brown furry thing scampering through the woods this morning and I thought maybe it had finally warmed up enough for the chipmunks to emerge from their winter nap but it was a little red squirrel instead. And with more snow coming, my pesky little rodents may stay hidden in their burrows underground for a few more weeks.
No Chipmunk Yet
The winter birds were not singing the spring songs as loudly today in the mostly cloudy day. The red-winged blackbirds are often one of earlier arrivals as well as robins and killdeers. This killdeer can blend in with a plowed field and lays its eggs in a depression in the dirt (or cow pie) but right now the fields are still covered in snow. So it may be a few more weeks before seeing any spring arrivals.
