I don’t think pumpkin’s face is the scary type for Halloween but more like a frozen frigid look from all the below freezing temperatures lately.

After mowing and mulching up leaves yesterday, it was hard to tell that I did anything as a new crop of leaves fell down overnight even though some trees are already bare. But too soon more trees will be empty and look pitiful until springtime.

The autumn colors are peaking in the southern part of the state but in the northern counties, autumn is past the color peak and many leaves have found a new home on the ground so memories and pictures have to be the visual reminders until next year’s autumn display.

After Lake Superior experienced the storm on Monday, things have calmed and activities are getting back to normal. The Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge was closed for a while as the big waves caused flooding on several roads. The bridge can be lifted to its full height of 135 feet in about a minute. The bridge operator in the little building on the bridge better not be scared of heights.

Sections of Lake Superior shores are needing to be clean up after yesterday storm which had big waves crashing in from the strong winds. Today people were surveying the damage and even these birds were checking out the new debris which the waves washed up on shore now that the lake has quieted down.
