Today was another cloudy January day but since it wasn’t snowing, adventurers exploring the winter landscape may have visited waterfalls, which many are beginning to ice over creating interesting frozen structures.

There may some adventurers who took a winter hike through the woods as the temperature neared the freezing point today, but the snow was melting some which made the paths a bit soft and slippery in spots.

My crafty squirrel manages to get to the bird feeder no matter what obstacles I try to thwart his efforts and so the birds have to find other sources of food, like the seed heads of the black-eyed Susans. The goldfinch doesn’t look very golden in the winter months.

There was stuff flying in the air today but it wasn’t bees or insects but those snowflakes again. It will several more months before there are any blossoms for the bees to come and collect pollen from.

The snow showers moved in again today, which has me thinking of summer white clouds and white flower blooms, even little white clover blossoms in the lawn.

The sunlight this morning highlighted the sparkles from the fluffy flakes from the last snowfall. But my squirrels have been messing up the shiny snowflakes as they stomp down trails from the trees to my bird feeders.

The chickadees seemed to enjoy the sunshine today as much as I did, but the chickadees always seem to have a cheery song no matter what the weather is. The only time they don’t sound happy is when I haven’t filled the bird feeder or I am taking too long to fill it.

The clouds today dropped some more of those white flakes in cold weather which has me remembering of a warmer form of water falling in a colorful setting.

After the snow stopped falling, the breeze picked up and blew the snow off the trees to make it look like the snow was falling from the skies again. Stronger winds caused blowing and drifting, including a drift across my driveway that I have to shovel again.

I don’t think this old tow truck will be pulling anyone out of the ditch during this snow storm as it appears its working days are over as I’m not even sure the red light on top works anymore plus the snow would blow right through the cab.
