When I was on the road this morning, there were pockets of light frost on the trees, although not the heavy or real pointy white stuff, but some frost form since the night wasn’t so frigid finally.
Light Frosty Coat
Today I saw white rolling across the landscape although it wasn’t white caps from waves but snow blowing across the road from the strong winds and a new coating of snow. The birds lined up at my bird feeders today were mostly purple finch and not any sea gulls from this beach scene.
Gulls at the Beach
Another sub-zero day had the birds coming for bird seed very frequently and they were a bit impatient waiting for me to refill the feeders. The other day I had seven chickadees lined up on the rope where the feeder was hanging as I was filling it, but today they waited in the tree which provided some protection from the cold winds.
Chickadee Waiting
With a string of cold days this month and more chilly days in the forecast, sometimes it is hard to believe small streams like this one are not frozen over. I would rather fish from the edge of this stream than to stand on the frozen lake surface and fish through a hole cut in the ice.
