Yesterday when I was driving from work, I spotted an owl sitting in a tree which was probably a Barred Owl from the glimpse I had of it. The Barred Owl is twice the size of this little red morph variety of the Eastern Screech-Owl. When I took this picture, this owl was napping in the sun but today it would have been catching snowflakes instead.

This poor cardinal was hiding on the backside of the bird feeder to get out the wind and to try to get some seed which wasn’t buried from the falling snow.

This old barn isn’t providing as much protection against the snow as it had in the past and with more snow on the way, the roof may sag even more after the snow storms.

With a forecast predicting three different waves of snow during the next several days, I think this poor tree will remain highlighted in white instead of green leaves.

Eleven years ago, spring did come early and the white petals of the Bloodroot blossoms carpeted the woods in late March, but with the current depth of snow and the tall snow piles, I will be lucky that I am not mowing around snow piles in May let alone seeing March flowers this year.

The heavy snow overnight had my pine trees branches weighted down again and I not sure they will ever return to their former upright positions even after the snow melts off as many times they been snowed on.

Snowflakes began to fall this evening creating a new white coat. Giving this picket fence a new white coat of paint might mean some work, but it would be warmer than than shoveling to remove the new snow coating in the morning.

There was some fog overnight leaving a hint of morning frost here and there.

With the recent fluffier snow, it looks like the squirrel sank down into the snow with every hop and made an interesting track pattern in the snow.

Today was “critters on the road” day. Four tom turkeys were taking their sweet time crossing the road when I was heading for lunch. And when I was leaving work this evening, a deer was in the middle of the road and it didn’t want to leave the road, probably since it didn’t want to climb the ditch snow banks and stand in that cold white stuff.
