With the unusually warm and almost snow free winter so far, March came in like a lamb as the temperatures climbed into the 50s. Hopefully March goes out like a lamb too and not like a lion with a late March blizzard.
Some of the birds are arriving back from the south, like the trumpeter swans. The oldest known Trumpeter Swan was at least 26 years, 2 months old female when she was identified in Wisconsin in 2015.
The winter cold water of Lost Creek Number One flows downstream after the falls and will merge together with Lost Creek Number Two and Lost Creek Number Three at the Lost Creek Bog as it empties into Lake Superior.
The beaches on Lake Superior in February are normally don’t have much traffic, but with most of the snow and ice gone, the birds are able to leave tracks in the sand.
