A winter squatting mouse had another frosty view from the birdhouse today, but the sun didn’t shine bright as the rodent made tracks in the snow when it ventured out.

It took until mid-morning, but the sun did break through to shine on the new heavy hoarfrost coating. And with temperatures in the upper twenties, it was a nice day for a winter walk.

There was finally a change today away from the gray as the sun shone down on the overnight’s frost. But the morning’s sun rays melted the icy grip of the frost and it quickly began to fall to the ground in its own little snow storm.

The new layer of snow had lots of deer tracks to look at, but tracks in the snow just are not as colorful as summertime walks when the flowers are blooming even if some of the blossoms are white.

During the summer, mowing lawn is a fairly regular chores (if you don’t have lambs for lawn mowers), but during the winter, shoveling snow is a weekly chore as Mother Nature can be unpredictable when it comes to snow storms. Sometimes the storm is just a nuisance dusty, but other times it is a time consuming event to get all shoveled out again so hopefully morning will reveal just a light coating from tonight’s snowfall.
