It is a good thing that Santa Claus doesn’t use longhorn cattle to pull his sleigh as they don’t appear to look very speedy plus they probably would have to be hitched in a single row so their horns didn’t poke each other.
Not needing to shovel snow this late into December is a very nice treat, but there is one downfall with the frost out of the ground since I had a mole that dug new tunnels and created mounds of dirt. Also some critter dug new burrows into my septic mound that I have to fill back in.
One thing about the warm winter rain is that the pond ice melted and frost came back out which allowed the owl living in my wood duck box to add a little variety to its Christmas dinner as it caught a frog that normally would be burrowed down deep for the winter.
It wasn’t a white Christmas or even a brown Christmas this year, but with the rain and temperatures in the 50s, the grass looked green again so it was a green Christmas.
