The sunshine melted some of the roads and even some hints of ground was showing where the plows scraped along the road shoulders. Green foliage and purple blossoms won’t be seen for a while especially with another snow storm coming tomorrow.

White clouds and green grass makes a better scene than white clouds over white snow. And with more snow coming this weekend, it may be a while before any grass starts again.

With some frost on the trees overnight and morning flurries, March continues to stay very white as winter refuses to loosen its grip.

Even with a string of below zero temperatures, there are some streams and rivers with a steady flow of water to keep it from freezing over.

With snow waist deep this week, it is hard to remember that wildflowers have been found some years in March. It doesn’t look like it will happen this year and it is a guess when the first Hepatica blossoms will be spotted in the woods.

The groundhog was a bit off on his early spring prediction with record setting low highs today so the piles of snow didn’t have much of a chance to melt much even with the sun out on this cold March Sunday.

As the sun rose this morning, the top of the trees glistened with frost while the limbs and ground sparkled with a fresh coating of snow. The frost blew upward in the air filling the sky with crystals as well as the ground.

March came “In Like A Lion”, or at least roared in like a cat since more snow fell again today but at least not as cold as they are predicting in the upcoming days. Hopefully March will go out like a lamb or better yet if the lamb like weather came next week.

February may be the shortest month, but it was long on snow. A record setting snow amount of 53.7 inches fell in Eau Claire for the month. Many road banks are piled very high which makes it hard to see oncoming vehicles at corners. This cliff on the shore of Lake Superior is like the snow banks as it hides what is around its corner.

The wind has created drifts and ripples in the snow which could look like waves on a lake, but there isn’t any warm sandy beaches yet since they are buried under several feet of snow.
