The dainty blue blossoms of the Forget-me-nots provides a bunch of smiling faces. The flower has had many meaning as they represented true love and remembrance. Its name comes from the tale about a 15th-century German knight who fell into a river and drown, but not before throwing a bouquet to his ladylove saying “Forget me not”.

The ducks were fighting the wind above the surface of Lake Superior.

This old barn is in good shape so it can provide some shelter from all the rain. This barn was built in 1929 for Castleberry Farms.

A calm Lake Superior can become wavy in a short time and the rocks I was sitting on are no longer seen as waves covers them.

Lake Superior has some calm days with not much of a ripple on the water surface and I was able to sit on rocks that are normally wet.

The wild roses are beginning to bud and soon the rosy pink blossoms will be attracting bees.

The chickadees normally sound so cheery, as long as I remembered to fill their bird seed feeders, but they don’t sit still very long.

Before Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, May 30th was the traditional date that Memorial Day was celebrated. In a local cemetery there is a grave marker for a veteran who was killed in France. Although I couldn’t find a lot of information on the Army veteran, I discovered he was killed the day before World War I ended.
