Moving slightly in the breeze, a sea of yellow waved in the sunny late summer day.
Summer Yellow
Although the temperature is above average today and too hot for me, the summer is slipping away and another sign that winter’s return is approaching. besides the maple leaves turning, is that a summertime voice is absent again. The very loud song from the tiny house wren has been missing this week and there is no sign on the little brown bird anymore. It is one of the last birds to arrive in the spring and now has abandoned its summer home already and headed south for the winter.
Wren Missing
Some of the corn silk are still soft and creamy color in the corn less mature, while other corn has silks which are turning brown already. The silks often look similar to my hairdo in the morning and I guess they follow some human hairs. Soft and light at birth, darkening with age and then turning brittle and falling out.
Corn Silks
I saw some maple trees changing colors the last week of July. That doesn’t seem like a good sign and maybe the trees know winter will be a long one. Or maybe since the summer has been hotter than normal, the trees have calculated enough heating degrees that it should be autumn already.
