The snow storm was slowing in arriving so there wasn’t a flake flying this morning, but when it arrived, it was hard to see very far through the snowflakes and they quickly coated me white when I was out in it. The snow was drifting and piling up on the door so I had to leap out of the door.

A gap in the clouds at sunset allowed some color before the winter snow storm blows in tomorrow which will fill the sky with white snowflakes.

This little redpoll seemed a little ruffled about waiting in line to get to the bird feeder after the finches started to hog all the food.

The snow was melting and shrinking with the above freezing temperature, but this tree limb probably will be recovered with a lot more snow if the weather forecasters are accurate for the approaching storm.

It felt nice outside since it finally was above freezing for a change, but it isn’t spring yet so no early Hepaticas blooming yet. The white variety wouldn’t be spotted easily among the snow either, so I prefer the pink or blue shades instead for a splash of color in the woods.

The piece driftwood looks like old bearded man wearing a hat an with huge arms trying to reach out and grab something. It would be nice if he was trying to grab some warmer weather but it must have slipped out of his hands.

Overnight the trees were decorated with a slightly different version of white than the snow from the day before. The hoarfrost coated most of the surfaces above the ground level and the ground was later covered too when the wind blew the frost off the limbs.

The new snow decorated the trees again to make them look pretty but it would be nice if the driveway didn’t need to be decorated too with that white stuff especially on cold days.

During many three day holiday weekends, people might head to parks for an outdoor adventure but that number decreases in the Wisconsin wintertime, especially with below zero temperatures. It would be nice to hike to visit a waterfall but I think I will wait until warmer days when the water is actually flowing instead of a frozen fall.

In the sunlight and calm winds, you might be able to pretend the new layer of snow was white sand on a beach, but the imagery of a warm beach would be hard to maintain when the skin wouldn’t be turning red from sunburn but from frostbite in a bathing suit.
