The squirrels were busy eating the seeds out of my late sunflowers and since it was above freezing, they also resume digging holes in my lawn to bury their cache.
Ready to Bury a Treasure
A decade after what started out as Armistice Day, remembering the armistice agreement ending World War I, Congress made it an official holiday dedicated to world peace. Since World War I didn’t end all wars, President Eisenhower signed a bill changing the name of Armistice Day to the more inclusive Veterans Day, a holiday to thank all who had served the United States of America. And so on this 11th day in November, we say thanks to all the men and women who have served to protect our country.
Remembering Veterans
The sun finally made an appearance although the temperatures are still below the average but at least it feels better than the gray days. There isn’t many flowers remaining after a string of below freezing nights and the wind have left very few milkweed pod with seeds since most have taken flight.
