On this warm September day, it would have been a good time to hike the shaded tree lined path besides a small stream to view a fifty foot waterfall and maybe catching some water mist too.

The tree frogs were ‘singing’ rather loudly this afternoon, but I don’t know if my rescued tree frog, who wintered over in my house and released in the spring, was part of the chorus today.

In rural Dunn County of Wisconsin park, visitors can walk the same floors of the house where Caroline Augusta Woodhouse lived, the young girl who inspired the book Caddie Woodlawn. Caddie’s family moved to the area in 1857 and the book written by her granddaughter won the 1935 Newbery Award for children’s literature.

While the trees are beginning to display some color, there is still some splashes of color on the ground from wildflowers, like the pink-purple color from the Blood Milkwort plant.

The fall blooming flowers were filled with bees and butterflies in the warm Sunday afternoon sunshine. There was numerous Painted Lady butterflies finding nectar on the Live Forever plant today.

It was back to work after the holiday and even this kitten was hard at ‘work’ waiting to pounce on one of her siblings. But she needed to stay close to the barn this afternoon to stay out of the rain showers.
