Now this frosty tree appears to be a nice place for a squirrel to live and there is one squirrel that might get relocated there. This morning a squirrel just found the bird feeder on the porch and when my cat went out to watch the thief steal seeds, the squirrel got mad and it peed on my cat, the screen and floor. So I ended up washing the screen and rinsing the porch floor. Trying to wash the cat was not so easy and only got a towel bath so far and I don’t really want to do a sniff test to see if a full bath is required. That squirrel might get dunked in the water trough the next time I see that rodent!

It appears that one deer appreciated the gate being open to the field so it didn’t have to hop the fence but I have more deer tracks in my yard than this field and with the recent snows, I have noticed three times the deer has peeked into my bedroom window. I don’t know if he wants an apple or why he likes looking in. Course now I really wonder how often I had a ‘peeking buck’ all summer. It is bad enough having a ‘peeking tom’ in the shower as my cat comes into the shower with me and of course leaves wet tracks on the floor when he gets out. I guess my place is overrun by the critters!

It seemed odd to have it raining yesterday when the ground is cover with snow instead of having it rain on a green landscape. But at least there wasn’t storm like many of the summer time rains can bring or a lot of freezing rain since it is winter.

The pretty new fallen snow doesn’t last long. The wind blows the snow off, the sun melts it or the critters start romping through the snow leaving tracks everywhere. When I was out walking in the snow yesterday, I was surprised by the number of tracks, including the deer tracks that led up to my bedroom window! The squirrel tracks generally went from tree to tree, the deer tracks made well traveled paths, bird tracks were under the feeders and the little mice tracks seem to be a random path and some just ended. They may have been a mid-afternoon snack for a hawk or eagle.

A friend of my from Australia (who is enjoying very warm temps since summer time there), asked if there was any color in my winter wonderland after seeing this week’s photos.

I replied to her that yes, we have color in our winter wonderland; we just have to clear the snow away to see it!

The snow covered the branches with the pretty white snow but the wind today blew most of the snow off the branches and you didn’t want to be standing under the branches when the snow came down.
