On a nice summer Saturday afternoon, I imagine there are many water activities happening, including some sailing on Lake Superior between Bayfield and Madeline Island.

At the end of the work week, many are tired and welcome the weekend. This old McCormick-Deering tractor definitely looks worn out and tired from too many working years. And no push button start for this tractor, but instead needed some hand-cranking to start this engine.

There has been a turkey wandering in my yard for days and he stays for several hours at a time, mainly under my bird feeders. Hopefully he hasn’t convince the grosbeaks to throw extra seeds down from the feeders so that the turkey is eating wood ticks and other bugs and not my bird seed.

By afternoon, the dew point dropped and the temperature was cooler so it was a great day for outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking or a cruise on the river.

After a display of aurora borealis during the night, some clouds rolled in during the pre-dawn hours to allow a colorful sunrise over Lake Superior. The green reflected on the water from the northern lights was replaced by pink when morning arrived.
