As another summer weekend approaches, some may have headed to the lake early to be able to cast a fishing line out in hopes of catching that big one. The clouds may create a nice scene, but it can make the bobber harder to see when it moves into the cloud reflection instead of the blue background.

The spring flower may have been very late this year, but the summer flowers might be a little ahead from other years as these iris add some color on the sunny day.

My birdhouses will have a variety of nest types in them, from the fine grass swirls of the bluebirds, a very messy grass and feathers nest of the sparrows, sticks the wrens uses, grass and trash (like candy wrappers) of the tree swallows and the a very soft moss nest of the chickadees. This chickadee was collecting nesting material from the side of the tree.

This turtle climbed out of the water in hopes of catching some sun in between the clouds.

While kittens may be outside playing, older cats may prefer a Sunday afternoon nap in the sunshine instead.

When I was mowing, I scared a bluebird out of a birdhouse. It is so nice to see some bluebirds back this year, even if they are nesting later than normal. Hopefully they will hatch a large nest of eggs so more return next year to add the blue color in the backyard.

When I lifted the cover for the propane tank, I spotted a tree frog hiding under the lid and I always wonder if it could be an offspring of the tree frog that spent the winter in my house five years ago. At least the one inside my house didn’t do the mating call before I turned it loose outside in the spring as the tree frogs were rather noisy the prior evening.
