The squirrels like to visit my bird feeders, but they also raid the corn crib at the farm and it is interesting to watch them trying to drag a whole ear of corn away.

My cats enjoyed a quick run outside but my girl had a hard time trying to keep all four paws off the cold ground at the same time. They probably are wishing for green grass and warmer temperatures.

This acorn cap makes me think of Scrat, the saber-toothed squirrel from the Ice Age films, and I can picture him tugging on the cap in an attempt to get to the acorn out of the snow and ice.

A light scattering of snowflakes fell today. Summertime dandelion seeds or autumn milkweed pod seeds flying through the air would be a warmer event to enjoy.

When walking my trails, my feet sinks in deeper with the new layer of snow and almost feels like stepping into marshy conditions. But ground is frozen and covered in that cold white stuff and not displaying any swamp milkweed in bloom waiting for butterflies.

By afternoon, most of the new snow fell off the trees but some traces of the white decoration remained. The new snow sparkled in the sunshine and looked pretty except for all the snow on my driveway.

I have had trouble with critters getting into places where they shouldn’t be and I noticed squirrel tracks going under my shed. And for a moment, I thought the squirrels had tunneled inside my shed and were roasting chestnuts on an open fire. But there wasn’t a fire in my building as it was just the glare of the setting sun reflecting off the window.
