The storm this evening had a lot of lightning and the sky flashed white during a strike inside the cloud but my pond caught the reflection.

I have only been seeing one turkey wandering around in my yard lately and so far I haven’t seen a hen with babies, so my one turkey better get eating my wood ticks as there has been too many ticks this season. Under the right conditions, an adult turkey can eat 200 or more ticks in a day, but my turkey must be lazy as the tick population doesn’t seem to be declining this season.

The flower might be pretty but the spines of the bull thistle are rather sharp. Although found in every state, the bull thistle is non-native and was introduced to the United States in the early 1800s.

Hopefully this male Widow Skimmer doesn’t rest too long and gets back to eating my mosquitoes. The males often leaves the female after she lays her eggs instead of sticking around like many other dragonfly species do, thus leaving the female a widow.

The little yellow crab spider remained almost unnoticeable until it moved from the yellow blossom to the green leaves. With their first four legs are larger than the hind legs, crab spiders have the capability of walking forward, backward, or sideways like a crab.
