Last Monday I visited Amnicon Falls State Park, which has four waterfalls, including the one called Now and Then. And the dry conditions also existed to the north as it is the first time that I seen the Now and Then Falls completely dry. This waterfall is fed by a crack in the basalt rock from the main river when the water level is high enough. One of my relatives called it Once in a While, which is fitting this very dry June.

Ten years ago, I had a different type bird wandering through my yard. This peacock was on the loose and traveled several miles and my yard was just one of his stops on his journey. Peafowl can live up to 50 years in captivity. The male peafowl is called peacock and they use their feathers to attract peahens, the female.

Some of the road ditches in upper Wisconsin are lined with colorful lupines, although most of them are not the native Wild Lupine, but are instead the Large-leaved Lupine which is native to the western states. The wild lupine, native to eastern North America, has leaves that are divided into 7 to 11 leaflets, where as the large-leaved lupine are grouped 9 to 17.
