The freezing fog made some slippery conditions this morning which had me wishing I was seeing different white trees during the summer than the cold frosted coated ones for the past week.

This Downy Woodpecker was playing possum when I went out to fill the bird feeders and I waited for him to leave but he remained still until I scared him off when finally walked past him.

The morning dawned to another very frosty morning, but at least the only snow falling was the frost dropping off the tree branches when the sun warmed up the trees.

The trees which had shook the snow from their limbs yesterday where coated again in white from the frost this morning. The sun later in the day melted some of the frost but the landscape still remained rather white.

It looks like this chickadee is praying that the snow would stop since the bird feeders keep getting covered with that white stuff which hides the bird seed.

The trees were coated with ice and heavy wet snow and it wasn’t just pine tree limbs touching the ground this morning. It was no fun shoveling all the heavy snow again but at least no high winds.

Another gray day brought rain, freezing rain, ice pellets and large snowflakes. The snowflakes weren’t as large as autumn leaves and it wasn’t a warm fall day either. And even though it means winter is approaching when the leaves start falling to the ground, after shoveling snow again, I rather see some autumn color instead of more frozen white.
