This old tractor on the edge of an apple orchard probably had put many hours into hauling wagon loads of apples at harvest time and may welcome its retirement years.

After a very foggy start, the sun was out for a Sunday afternoon walk to smell the apple blossoms and to watch and listen to birds in the trees.

The first sunny day in a while had the bees buzzing in the dandelions as well as the apple blossoms. And while the female orioles were busy building theirs nests, I spotted a male oriole in the apple blossoms as he was hunting insects. But as I was watching the oriole, I scared the wood ducks from the pond so I quickly took some photos and left the area so the ducks could return to their nest boxes.

As warm spring days continue, the grass is growing, the trees are leafing out, more flowers are blooming (including all my dandelions) and now the apple blossoms are beginning to open up adding a different white than the snow from winter.

There wasn’t too much green around today for St. Patrick’s Day. And it was hard to imagine green leaves and red apples when pruning the bare limbs of an apple tree today, especially trying to wade through a snow drift that came up to to my pant pockets to get to the tree.
