A Sunday stroll on a Lake Superior beach may be a little slippery with the snow and ice, although the snow has been melting the last few days and more sand is reappearing.
Not Sandy Beach
My walk on the beach today had a different feel because most of the sand was frozen and I barely left a shoe print as I walked along until I got to where the waves were coming in. Plus I wasn’t able to pick up some of the pretty rocks since they too were frozen to the ground. With the warmer waves today, the snow and ice pack melted back but snow will eventually cover the beach again for the winter.
Icy Rocky Beach
“Red sky at morning, sailors take warning” is a line from a rhyme used for weather forecasting the past two millennia by mariners. But the sunrise was more pink than red so no storm, especially since the day was in the 40s and it might be the last 40 degree day for the year until next spring.
