Although the day is rather warm, a group of kittens still had some energy to play and wrestle with each other in the shade of a barn.

During the night, I had a black & white visitor but it was a rather smelly one! This is the second visit in a week’s time, so I rather the skunk went to some other house to visit for a while as I rather cuddle a black and white kitty who doesn’t smell so bad.

While a majority of the kittens at the farm are born in the spring and early summer, some come early when the snow is on the ground or in the fall. My long time cat Dutch who died last year, was born on this date thirteen years ago. One of the new kittens has similar markings and likes to climb, and time will tell if it can get back down by itself as that is one thing Dutch had trouble doing correctly.

A year ago my longtime cat Dutch died, an orphan I brought over from the farm. About two months ago, two more kittens from the farm found their way to my place. I’m not sure if Trouble and Stripe will take over the chipmunk duty like Dutch did (since there was a chipmunk digging in my flower pot yesterday), especially since Trouble was rather skittish about meeting my other resident “cat”.

The cold, snowy days are hampering Patch and the other kittens playtime since they need to cuddle together to stay warm so I know they are looking forward to the return of spring as much as I am. It is fun to watch them race around and explore their world.

The cats are not playing outside and enjoying a sunny warm day – not when the ground is white this evening since the temperature is at the freezing mark. So they will have to wait another day before going back on the hunt for chipmunks.
