As the rain moved away in the late evening, the sun started to peek out of the clouds just before the sun’s descent approached its setting for the day.
Sunday’s Sky
The first sunny day in a while had the bees buzzing in the dandelions as well as the apple blossoms. And while the female orioles were busy building theirs nests, I spotted a male oriole in the apple blossoms as he was hunting insects. But as I was watching the oriole, I scared the wood ducks from the pond so I quickly took some photos and left the area so the ducks could return to their nest boxes.
Holiday Weekend at the Pond
The smoke from the Canadian wildfires has caused the sky to be covered like thin clouds, dimming the sun during the day and causing a red sun ball morning and night the past week. Today real clouds moved in but the smoke smell is still in the air since there hasn’t been any rain yet to wash the smoke particles out.
Clouds Moved In
Even with all of the modern technology, the weather is still a big guess for farmers trying to get enough dry days between cutting and baling hay when the forecasts are often wrong. With rain predicted tonight and for the upcoming days, I’m sure there was a scramble to get as much hay baled as possible before the storms.
