Some people complain about the damage that red squirrels but to me they are cute and my chipmunks do more damage to me, like the one which sneaked into my garage and then tried tunneling out through my insulation in the wall.

Many people are scrambling to finish their taxes today, even though they had three extra days to file them. The April 15 filing date was pushed later because the 15th and Emancipation Day landed on the weekend which extended the filing date.
My tree frog, ‘Mr. Linty’, was ’emancipated’ although I am not sure my unexpected and unusual house pet was real thrilled with his re-entry to the outdoors since now he won’t have flies delivered to his indoor home which made it easy for him to catch his dinner. His indoor apartment, lined with moss even had a swimming pond. The last check this evening found him on the outside porch wall just above the lip of his container so he hasn’t wandered too far yet.
Linty’s Emancipation
The first sunny day in a while had the birds singing, which included some spring birds arrival like bluebirds and killdeers. So it was time to clean the bluebird houses yet and evict the squatters who moved in over winter. And I had to remove a lot of field mice, although the males must have ticked off the females as most houses only had one occupant and I only found one couple. But I did have to feel a little sorry for some of them as one had a ripped ear and this one was missing a front leg so didn’t scramble down the pole when I cleaned the house.
Three Legged Mouse
Since I haven’t posted a critter picture yet in this new volume of the picture of the day yet, I figured I better use a photo of my friend’s favorite critter. The chipmunk might not be on my favorite list since I am missing two marigolds and one petunia when I watered today. And several other pots are missing a lot of dirt.
The dang chipmunks are taking my sunflower seeds and burying them in the pot and the seeds sprout. So then they don’t have a stash of seeds and the birds didn’t get their seeds either. I thought I would try putting something around the shepherd hook pole they were climbing to get the seeds and I found a piece of plastic tree wrap and had it dangling down on the pole. But that didn’t stop them since it was just the right size for them in crawl through and it created a safety ladder cage instead for their climbing. I can’t win against them and you can see the nice digging toes they have. Now if I could only train them to dig the weeds instead of my flowers.
