Because I didn’t want to scare my recently hatched wood ducklings, I skipped mowing close to my pond. And by not mowing, a section of over 100 feet turned white and orange from daisies and the non-native orange hawkweed.
The clouds parted just before noon and the sun shone down on a new carpet of white, but it was snow on a cold day and not daisies soaking up the summer warm rays.
The new layer of snow had lots of deer tracks to look at, but tracks in the snow just are not as colorful as summertime walks when the flowers are blooming even if some of the blossoms are white.
There was a thicker layer of snow this morning than what I thought there would be. The landscape had a new white sparkling coating but I rather have seen white daisies against some green grass instead by the time I got done shoveling snow.
