The Siberian irises are being to open up this season even if it has been a dry summer and they prefer a moist soil, which mine didn’t get this year as I didn’t water them and the brief rain shower this afternoon barely wet the ground.

The Pasque flower is an early spring flower, which is still blooming on the shore of Lake Superior since the spring growing season starts later than in my home area.

The Orange Hawkweed is an invasive weed, but I rather have this orange flower than the predicted 20 plus inches of snow this week.

There was no bright colors from a flower on this gray winter day but at least there was no new snow like some other parts of the state received.

After a very long stretch of cold weather, it finally was above freezing today but that doesn’t mean there are spring flowers blooming as the ground is still covered with white snowflakes and not white flower petals.

The sun was shining on the pine trees and the snow, but with wind chills below zero today, it was chilly out and not as warm as this August scene of green and white.
