Other array of colors are also being displayed besides the yellow and white summertime flowers, like this patch of pink phlox.
Patch of Pink
Although not in the road ditches peonies, in a range of colors from dark red, pink and even white, can be seen from the road. You can smell them in the breeze even before you get close to the large blossoms. The ground under the flowers will be eventually turn to white when the petals drop but the white isn’t from cold snow.
White Peonies
Spring finally arrived the last day of April as the temperature reached 81 and the last of the snow melted in my yard. The south winds blew in a male oriole, dragonflies, butterflies and the female bluebirds. And some flowers finally opened up with one lone daffodil, two hepaticas, and some clumps of snow glories.
Snow Glories Open Up
The calendar says it is the start of spring, but with a cloudy day and with temperatures not making it above freezing today, it sure didn’t feel too much like spring. Although I did finally spot one lone robin in my yard today but no chance of spotting any flowers, not even any crocuses next to the house.
