With the sun out and not snowing, it might have been a good time to catch some of the sun rays on a Sunday afternoon sitting on a bench surrounded by flowers not killed off by the multiple freezing nights.
The sunshine was bright on the new snow causing the snow pack shrunk a few inches. The forty degree day made it feel almost springlike but with several feet of snow on the ground, there are no spring flowers to be found yet.
My lawn has a deeper layer of snow from the storm last night and by afternoon the temperatures warmed enough that the ice finally fell from the tree limbs covering my driveway. It felt like walking through shards of glass and I rather stroll among flower petals instead.
Trips outside were done quickly as possible in the sub-zero temperatures and it can make you wish time would spring forward by six months to feel warm sunshine and see the yard filled with colorful flowers.
The summertime flowers got both a little sunshine and rain today, but at least it wasn’t an extremely hot day. These flowers definitely remind me of sun and summer.
The bleeding hearts lasted most of May but have mostly faded now that June has arrived. Other flowers were enjoying the rare sunshine and warm temperatures.
