It took until mid-morning, but the sun did break through to shine on the new heavy hoarfrost coating. And with temperatures in the upper twenties, it was a nice day for a winter walk.
There was finally a change today away from the gray as the sun shone down on the overnight’s frost. But the morning’s sun rays melted the icy grip of the frost and it quickly began to fall to the ground in its own little snow storm.
It may be a new year, but this morning looked just like the past few frosty days so apparently Mother Nature didn’t get the memo about it being the start of a brighter year.
Most will say that 2020 was not a very good year and they are looking forward to it ending. And here, the year ended with a cloudy, frosty, gray winter day so here is hoping next year will be better.
Mother Nature added more Christmas decorations in the form of frost this morning. And at times the sky looked like a snow globe when the frost started to fall.
The morning started with pointy frost clinging to things, including this maple leaf still trying hanging onto autumn even if by afternoon, the leaf was weighted down with snow.
After a very chilly and wet day, the sun peeked out just as it was setting, which will allow the cold air to settle in over night. The predicted low is 32 with patchy frost but maybe the forecasters will be wrong and I won’t see this white stuff called frost in the morning.
