A warm November day is preferable, but I didn’t feel too sorry for this thistle when it was covered with frost. But I suppose the spines might be stiffer and poke in farther if frozen so good thing it is too cold to be bare foot.

When I looked outside this morning, the ground was white but at least it was only frost and since it was clear enough to form frost, you knew the sun would be up soon to melt the frost away. Tomorrow could be white with snow so I will take the frost instead of snow even if the frost probably felt heavy on the fallen leaves.

Seeing frost on the trees this morning and with snow is falling now, winter is definitely still here. With snow every day this month and the weather forecasters saying significant snow for this weekend, I do believe my groundhog was correct – it will be a long winter!

Waking up to a wee bit nippy morning with air temps at -17 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind chill of -45, I think my face frosted up like these trees when I went out to fill the bird feeders. But is it a sunny day – a very deceiving sunny day!
