The cold start of January has allow some floating ice to move in along the shore of Lake Superior, although if the wind switches direction, the ice can quickly disappear.

Just a few miles can make a difference in snow amount on the ground, but although the mile and half hike to the waterfall was snow covered and icy, Lost Creek Falls itself was mostly thawed out, I was hoping to see more of a frozen waterfall instead, but it was just too warm this hike.

Lake Superior seems to be in constant change and with the wind change overnight, the ice broke up in a few hours by morning and all the ice chunks were gone a couple hours later.
