The freezing rain today created some rather slippery surfaces and coated a lot of thing outside like these red colored branches.
Ice Coated Branches
Last year at this time of year, my pond was filled with ducks and geese. But the two pair of geese and my lone duck have vanished for days since the pond has frozen over solid again so no open water. And the snow today created a white layer on the surface. Maybe tomorrow, if the sun comes out, it will melt a hole back in the ice again.

The ditch magnets were busy pulling cars off the road this morning. Actually it was the layer of ice on the road that caused the vehicles to end up in the ditches. Crawling around in this slippery ice coated tunnel is definitely more of a fun adventure than slipping off the roadway in a car.
Icy Tunnel Adventure
On Saturday, 34 fisherman were stranded on a piece of ice that cracked and separated away from the rest ice near shore. They had to be rescued from the floating ice as it floating farther out into Lake Michigan. I wouldn’t be fishing on the ice since the ice changes frequently on big bodies of water as this image from Lake Superior was a solid sheet one minute, fractured a while later and after a few more hours, the ice floated out of view.
