There were a variety of celebrations to ring in the New Year this evening, including some firework displays. Mother Nature can put on its own nighttime light snow when the Aurora Borealis dance across the sky.
The wind was lighter today than the past few days so the waves have lessen on Lake Superior but the forecast has stronger gusts again on Sunday which will likely bring back the Gales of November.
The sunshine made a great day for a hike through along the lake shore, especially since the temperatures reached the mid 60s which is above average for a November day.
With the way the wind has been blowing the last couple of times, I would be too chicken to go out on this commercial fishing boat on Lake Superior. I would stick to the shore and watch the waves rolling in and not feeling them on the water.
It was a great day to spend a Sunday afternoon at a beach, with temperatures in the upper 80s, picking up pretty rocks and wading in the waves. Today might be the last near 90 degree day for the rest of the year as the week’s forecast is calling for highs in the 60s instead.
