Summertime, in the middle of July, brings a variety of lilies in an array of colors across yards and road ditches.
Colorful Lily
In the late summer, yards and ditches are filled with various types of lilies. Sometimes you notice a field with some lilies and other flowers, which at one time had surrounded a farm house, but has long been abandoned and the house was either torn down or fell down, leaving only a few indicators that something more once stood there.

The road ditches have spotted patches of reddish orange color as the native lilies are blooming. Although growing up, I thought they were Turk’s Cap Lily but Turk’s Caps are not native to Wisconsin and they are actually native Michigan Lily instead (but I think they should have been called Wisconsin Lily instead as Wisconsin has more counties with them in than Michigan does). But whatever the name, they are pretty in the road ditches and fields.
Michigan Lily
There was more fireworks last night and now this morning, mother nature is providing some booming noise too. But maybe later today, the sun will shine again on the orange lilies so they can show off their really bright orange color instead of the muted orange under the gray skies this morning.
