When I was driving back from an appointment today, I noticed a couple of old wooden barns which have fallen and collapsed recently. The wooden barn as disappearing from the landscape so it was nice to see this old barn get a new coat of paint and a new roof.
New Facelift for Old Barn
This barn may have weathered a lot of storms, but it still looks like it can weather a few more and provide some shelter during the predicted snow storm.
Weathered Old Barn
With the temperature below zero this evening, livestock would appreciate a warm barn, even if it is in the shape of an octagon. This barn was built in 1893 in Sauk County of southwestern Wisconsin and the red color stands out against the summer greens as well as winter white but I prefer the green over the cold white.

Although outside the barn has changed scenes with snow covering the grass, but the inside the old barn would provide some protection against the strong gusty winds. This gray barn does have a new metal roof so maybe the snow will slide off of it.

My wanderings on back roads often have me stopping to take a photo of an old barn. And sadly, many of the barns I have photographed over the years no longer exists so it is a wonderful surprise to run across a barn years later with a new coat of paint. This one also received a new roof since the last time I saw it six years ago.
New Coat of Red
The nice warm afternoon today after a snowy and cold week felt nice, but the autumn colors are only a memory and all too soon, the green field around this barn will be blanketed with white snow.

There was no blue skies with puffy clouds today as the day was filled with clouds and mist. This red barn was built in 1925 and adds some color in early spring days.

Still standing proudly in the summer sunshine, this red round barn with its cupola and two pitch roof is celebrating 100 years.

The fence doesn’t need painting, but it looks like the barn might need a new coat soon. The wooden barns are quickly fading from the landscape as the structure doesn’t conform to the new technology and methods of farming. But no matter what size barn you have, it is never big enough!

The new snow might create pretty scenes like this rural setting but the winds during the last snow storm filled in all my paths causing me to sink in the snow to my knees while trying to feed the cats outside. I guess I should have put snowshoes on!
