The month of November and the start of December have been extremely cloudy months this year and the plants I rescued from the cold outside are fading away due the lack of sun. At least cloudy days in October have a hint of color compared to white landscape now.

With the last few windy days and snow still on the ground this morning, the season of autumn color viewing is coming to a quick end, although I did see one red tree yet today that looked pretty surrounded by a white ground. And instead of a walk in the freezing temperature, a drive in the car with the heat on, would have felt better to view the few remaining areas with autumn color.

Leaf lookers taking a Sunday drive today to view the autumn changes may have had a wet or sunny drive depending on which roads were traveled with the rain showers in the area.

My roof was dripping water from the melting snow but it wasn’t like a waterfall yet since it was only 40 and shaded but maybe this weekend it will melt more and frozen steams could start flowing again. This little waterfall in the Porcupine Mountains is often bypassed in search of taller and bigger falls, but it is a cute little treasure.

There was some leaves falling today, but not during warmer autumn time, but some of the remaining oak leaves are getting blown off mixed in with the snow falling. Autumn, like spring, are very short seasons compared to winter.

I much rather view white water and white foam from a waterfall than the white cold flakes falling down from the sky this evening. This little falls is called Bonanza Falls located near the Porcupine Mountains in Upper Michigan, which can be 100 feet wide during the spring runoff.

After climbing the half mile trail the from the parking lot and climbing up 300 feet in elevation to Summit Peak, you are greeted with a wonderful view of the Porcupine Mountains especially in October during the autumn display of color. Summit Peak is the third highest point in Michigan and if you still have some energy left, you can climb the tower up another 40 feet up so that you are at the highest point.

The unusual warm November temperatures make for nice hiking days, even up to the top of Summit Peak, but now trees are bare as the ground now has the last remains of the autumn colors.

Sunny days for viewing the autumn colors were very limited this fall as today was another cloudy wet day. But rainy days can provide some colorful reflections in the water on the road.
Road Reflections
Recreation on a river means different things to people as some prefer kayaking, fishing, swimming, boating, wading or just enjoying and photographing the view from shore. The west channel of the Presque Isle River is a little more wild with the rapids and pot holes carved out in the rock bed.
