This afternoon was 50 degrees warmer than yesterday morning, but it was still below freezing. But the warmer temperatures has me dreaming of beaches not covered by snow and ice.

When walking a beach, I watch for interesting pieces of driftwood to see what sea monster shapes I can envision in the wood, but some times the creature looking thing is rather small like this little green monster.

With the way the wind has been blowing the last couple of times, I would be too chicken to go out on this commercial fishing boat on Lake Superior. I would stick to the shore and watch the waves rolling in and not feeling them on the water.

While some dogs don’t enjoy water, especially baths, other dogs love the water and a dip in Lake Superior is a refreshing way to cool off on a summer day while playing fetch. I just don’t want to be near a long haired dog when it shakes the water from its fur.

There wasn’t a lot of flow at Twin Falls last July, but with the dry conditions this year there might not be enough to stand under to cool off on this hot day. Larson Creek has carved a gorge in the sandstone and the lower drop of the falls is about twelve feet.

With the arrival of a new month, meteorological winter starts, which includes the months of December, January and February. The frost was heavy this morning but at least no snow on the ground although I would be happier with meteorological autumn instead.

The above average temperatures today made it a perfect day to spend outdoors and for some that might have included some fishing time. Even this commercial fishing boat probably prefers the nice weather instead of cold and stormy. The seagulls follow the fishing boat around and some gulls even catch a ride back into the harbor.

The recent rain caused my pond to overflow again although I rather see water flowing over a falls instead, especially since I couldn’t mow part of my lawn today again with the standing water. Twin Falls is in an area that hasn’t had as much rain so the flow is lighter but at least it was flowing when I hiked back to it earlier this month.
