The “Dog Days of Summer” ended last week, so do that means it is Puppy Days of Summer now? It is always fun to watch kittens and puppies playing, but they might only hold still for a photo after they wear themselves out for a bit, otherwise it seems to be a blur of fur.

Next Thursday is the end of the dog days of summer, so maybe the weather will cool down as the summer has been a hot one. Even this puppy probably wants the dog days to come to an end.

Man’s best friend has been around for more than 14,000 years when the dog’s evolution split from wolves to become the domesticated critter so many have bonded with today. And love for dogs is celebrated today being National Dog Day.

With the big football game occurring today, many people are watching the plays, passes, runs and tackles during at the Superbowl. I’m not a big sport fan and so I rather watch puppies tackle each other instead.

This little puppy is exploring and searching for something. I know I have been searching for some sunshine and warmer temperatures which seems to be lacking a lot this November.

The sun failed to break through the clouds enough to warm up the outside temperature so the young puppy with lots of energy and a fur coat had an advantage while playing in the fallen leaves. Rest periods were very short and not very often to photograph this active guy.

The calendar says it is autumn but it felt more like the dog days of summer instead, especially when the yard was filled with a two year old dog and six puppies. And after play time on a warm afternoon, a Sunday nap was needed by most of the puppies.
Late Dog Days of Summer
With a squirrel and cat for the last two pictures, I might as well have a critter week and so instead of another cat picture, it is time for some puppies. These puppies are hard at work or at least having fun playing tug-of-war with the stuffed toy pheasant. Although it was better the pheasant received the tugging since it was not so easy taking pictures when they found my camera strap!

Don’t let this innocent face fool you. She might not be hunting live critters yet but she sure goes after stuffed toy ones. And that is not all she plays with as my shoe strings and my camera strap were involved in a serious tug-a-war match.
