This squirrel is holding its pose, probably hoping if he doesn’t move, I won’t see and chase him out of the bird feeder.

This squirrel might not be happy with the cloudy day with occasional rain showers today, but it warmer than it will be as a stretch of days not getting above freezing so hopefully he has stashed a lot of food for the winter.

The little red squirrel was chattering up in the tree today and I don’t think he liked the cloudy day. But the squirrel should have been grateful that there was no snow to bury the fallen pine cones that he was munching on.

Some people complain about the damage that red squirrels but to me they are cute and my chipmunks do more damage to me, like the one which sneaked into my garage and then tried tunneling out through my insulation in the wall.

While some people don’t like the destructive nature of some squirrels, just like I don’t like my chipmunks destroying my flowers and garden, but the little critters are cute. This little American Red Squirrel was happily eating the silver maple seeds near the trunk of the tree.

This morning there has been a war on between me and the squirrels. I have a half dozen gray squirrels raiding the bird feeders and they aren’t scared of my cat or me. Now if they would have been busy last fall putting their nuts in the hollow tree like this red squirrel did instead of burying the acorns all over my lawn that they can’t find now under the deep snow, they wouldn’t have to stealing my bird seed!

The sun is out today and supposedly it will get to the freezing mark today so I wonder if the red squirrel will crawl out of his tree hole and play in the snow. I have been seeing the grey and black squirrels all winter but not the little red squirrel. I guess he is not a fan of winter.

The little red squirrel must have heard the forecast since he was stocking up on the bitternuts. It was in the 90s yesterday but predicted highs of 50s for next week. The whole yard is full of black and gray squirrels this morning but the lone, little red squirrel is getting the majority of the nuts!

The woods are bustling with squirrels, collecting acorns and bitternuts. And while most will scramble up a tree if I get too close, my new little red squirrel comes towards me and gives me a royal chewing out. The gray and black squirrels aren’t the only victims of this tiny little spit ball who fiercely guards the bitternut tree.
He is small enough that he claimed one of the chipmunk holes in an old oak tree so a family of chipmunks has been dislodged too due to this new arrival. I wonder what will happen if the red squirrel tangles with my cat. I think the squirrel will win!

The little red squirrel is back, although a little bigger than the last time I saw him. But his little size doesn’t stop him from chasing the larger black squirrels away, especially since bitternuts were involved. Although his mother apparently didn’t tell him to wipe his mouth off as he eats, but then he was in a hurry to get another nut ate as quickly as he could.
