More snow fell overnight so by Sunday morning, my driveway disappeared as it blended in with the rest of the white covered lawn.

The wind today made it feel colder than the 40 degree day, but the sunshine was melting the snow. And the week is supposed to be above freezing so the snow pack will continue to shrink down.

Mother Nature reminded us that winter is still here with the new big fluffy snowflakes, even if yesterday’s temperature finally reached the 40 degree mark which gave a little hope that spring was coming early like Jimmy the Groundhog said.

There was a new light coating of snow overnight, but at least the sun came out later in the morning to help melt the white stuff off the trees limbs again.

The new coating of snow revealed critters tracks all over the yard. The deer apparently were having a party up and down the driveway. The birds and squirrels were leaving tracks heading for the bird feeder.

Red may be one of the common colors for barns, but during this last cold week the cows probably didn’t care what the barn color was as much as whether it was warm inside. The red color looks good against the white snow, but to me the red looks even better when the fields are green.

On a very cold winter day, where you can use a banana to hammer in a nail, you probably want to send your sweetheart some chocolates instead of flowers for St. Valentine’s Day. Flowers might freeze solid by the time the delivery man gets them to the door, but then you have to let your candy thaw out too before eating so you don’t break a tooth.
