Sometimes when snowflakes fall softly from the skies, they can lay gently on other snowflakes which allows their unique crystal shapes to be seen. But the snow this morning was compacted by the freezing rain so individual flakes were hard to find.

Mother Nature reminded us that winter is still here with the new big fluffy snowflakes, even if yesterday’s temperature finally reached the 40 degree mark which gave a little hope that spring was coming early like Jimmy the Groundhog said.
End of February Snow
The snow started this afternoon and at times it was very heavy which made it hard to see trees just 100 feet away. With all the snow that piled up throughout the day, it will take some time to clear the snow off the driveway since the early spring the rodent predicted hasn’t made its appearance yet.
Winter Falling Flakes
Yesterday’s blizzard caused the snow to create drifts across the lawn like waves on the water. And more snowflakes fell today adding to the total inches covering the ground.
April Snow Showers
The April showers from last night brought May snow today instead of May flowers for a May Day basket. The poor wildflowers were probably calling out a Mayday distress instead when they were being bombed by huge snowflakes today.

The snowflakes falling this morning were huge and too bad they weren’t cotton candy instead of cold snow. A flake would cover my camera lens so I had to try to protect the camera while out in the snow squall. The little patch grass the robin was hanging around is now covered but at least it snowed on the robin’s tail so only twice more until spring comes.

Rain yesterday, snow today. I guess Old Man Winter has returned but I still prefer the softly flowing waterfalls to the big falling snowflakes.
