With all the rainy days, the storm clouds have taken on a variety of shapes and colors. And for my family, June 12th does not have a good weather history as two different tornadoes years apart struck the farm which took a barn down each time.

The evening rumbled as a storm rolled in and the thunderhead cloud climbed so high my camera couldn’t capture the top of it. But for all the noise and eerie sky, the storm skirted just to the north and didn’t get a drop of rain.

A line of rain showers moved in today and some areas had heavier storms. The sky is often interesting with different cloud shapes and even a bit eerie at times.

While these clouds don’t look very nasty, an earlier dark storm front rolled through with 60 mph wind gust that rattled trees and buildings causing some damage today.

The clouds last night, after the rain let up, looked more like smoke billowing from a fire than rain clouds. But the clouds did drop rain quickly in some areas, causing flash flood warnings and some thunderstorm warnings, so it was nice to see them moving away from the area.

Some days you don’t get much of a sunrise or sunset when a storm blows in and covers the sun on a summer day.

Last Sunday a rainbow appeared but I was too slow getting to a nice scenic area to photograph it, partly because I was also watching and taking pictures the cloud formation which was bringing the rain for the rainbow.
