There isn’t much color out again today with the cloudy skies and the trees covered in frost again. The goldfinches are still eating the Black-eyed Susan seed heads but the flowers do not have their summer glorious colors.
Summertime Susans
As I watched the snowflakes fall tomorrow, it seemed almost difficult to think that lush green foliage will appear again. Ferns first appear in the fossil record about 360 million years ago and it almost seems like it will take a million days to see them again with the delayed spring this year.
Summertime Ferns
After the new snow, I saw a lot of deer tracks across my lawn and the last several nights, I have heard them walking through the woods after the dark. But it is hard to take a picture of them in dark in addition to it being cold outside to try to wait for them to come into view, so it is easier to capture them in the summer time.
