The colorful sunrise did not reflect off the few remaining patches of snow, but the grass will be covered in again with that white stuff by tomorrow and probably will remain hidden under the cold coat until spring.

After a display of aurora borealis during the night, some clouds rolled in during the pre-dawn hours to allow a colorful sunrise over Lake Superior. The green reflected on the water from the northern lights was replaced by pink when morning arrived.

But the average drop of water entering the lake remains for 191 years, which is the longest retention time of the Great Lakes. The other Great Lakes are less than a hundred years with Lake Erie at only 2.6 years and Lake St. Claire averages only 7 days.
