The moon’s waxing crescent phase shared the sky with Venus on the last sunset of the 2016 year.

The snow continued until last this evening so it was another day without seeing a sunset, although the skies probably will be clear this week when the temperature drops below zero and then it will be too cold to enjoy a sunset outside.

The forecast calls for a cloudy week so there might not be a lot of sunsets to see like this early November one.

A November Sunset

One advantage of a nice warm Sunday evening in November is that it makes viewing a sunset more fun when you can do so in short sleeves and not bundled up in a coat and needing gloves which are needed in the cold winter time.

The rainy week prevented seeing many sunsets due to the thick clouds but sun and a dry stretch is forecast so maybe we will see a few more in the coming days.

Living near a flight route for planes, contrails or vapor trails are often seen in the sky and when they are present during a sunset, the light often reflects off them. But fifteen years ago, there was a lack of contrails in the sky for the sunset as flights were grounded after the terrorist attacks on America. Let us remember all the lives lost on that unforgettable day.
